PLAN YOUR ROAD TRIP
Six days on Arizona's Haunted Route 66
This itinerary follows the route taken by our panelists during their six-day paranormal investigation of Arizona's Route 66. We drove every mile, visited every haunted location, and slept in some of the most ghost-prone lodgings on the Mother Road.
For the full account of that journey, see Debe Branning's Arizona's Haunted Route 66, published by Haunted America.

FLAGSTAFF GHOST TOUR
The Flagstaff Visitor Center (itself reportedly haunted) offers a free self-guided ghost tour brochure covering downtown. Pick one up and walk the area between the Monte Vista and Weatherford — it's two blocks apart.
OVERNIGHT
Lodging recommendation coming soon — consider staying at the Monte Vista or Weatherford themselves if you dare.
MUSEUM CLUB NOTE
The Museum Club is primarily a live music venue. Check their calendar before visiting — it's best experienced when there's a show.

WILLIAMS DETOUR
Williams is the southern gateway to the Grand Canyon (60 miles north). If your schedule allows, a morning trip to the South Rim before heading west is well worth the detour.

KINGMAN NOTE
Kingman is the largest city on Arizona's Route 66 and a good base for the western portion of the trip. Route 66 through downtown Kingman (Andy Devine Avenue) has a well-preserved stretch worth walking on foot.
OATMAN
Hollywood Ghosts, Wild Burros, and the End of the Road
DRIVE TIME
Kingman to Oatman: ~28 miles but allow 45–60 min — the road through the Black Mountains is twisty and spectacular.
THE GOLD ROAD
The drive from Kingman to Oatman on the original Route 66 through Sitgreaves Pass is one of the most dramatic stretches of road in Arizona. Don't rush it. Pull over at the top for the view.
OATMAN TIPS
The wild burros own the town and they know it. Bring carrots — sold at shops in town. The daily staged gunfights happen on Main Street at set times. Check the schedule when you arrive.
